This is a washed Ethiopian bean, meaning that it is wet-processed. It comes from the Hambela Estate in south-central Ethiopia. Hambela is a third generation family farm, now run by Aman Adinew. He is committed to the local community, and has helped establish healthcare for employees and sponsored a local elementary school.
Hambela Estate is also committed to quality, and their business, METAD, ” has the first and only private state-of-the-art SCAA certified coffee quality control lab on the African continent used to train both domestic and international coffee professionals”–according to this profile sheet.
In the cup, this is a sweet brew, with light citrus tones and a stone fruit finish. Delicious.
