Congo Kivu Hutwe

This coffee from the Democratic Republic of Congo comes from the far east of the country, near Lake Kivu. Lake Kivu is formed from a rift, and coffee loves this volcanic soil. The beans come from small farmers who bring their coffee to the Hutwe washing station, in Virunga. This is a light-roasted coffee, that tastes of melon and sweet citrus, with a high acidity.
