This is a beautiful micro-lot Colombian, from Granja La Esperanza in Valle de Cauca. The Granja consists of six farms, and you can find their website here. The farms are carefully managed by Rigoberto and Luis, two of eleven siblings whose grandfather first cultivated coffee in the 1930’s.
This peaberry has been hand sorted from the rest of the crop. It is a tekisic: a bourbon varietal from El Salvador, which in turn was originally a mutant of arabica that was originally discovered on the Bourbon Island. These beans were selected for the particular micro climate at their Las Margaritas farm.
In the cup this Colombian has milk chocolate tones, with a creamy hazelnut finish. In general, peaberries are higher in caffeine, so expect a kick from this bean.
