This Nicaraguan coffee comes from a single estate, owned by two women who started growing coffee in 1998. It is Rainforest Alliance and Utz certified: 54 hectares of their property is devoted to a forest preserve.
You can find the Santa Rita website here, and see pictures of the people growing your coffee. They are committed to ecologically sound practices, and improving the lives of their workers. Their current project is working to preserve the local water sources, and to be sure the surrounding village has access to potable water.
In the cup this is an amazing coffee, with notes of chocolate and plum, a medium acidity, and a lingering nutty finish. It’s delicious.
