This is a beautiful micro-lot Honduran, grown by Ernesto Vásquez on his small 3.5 acre farm in the community of Aguanqueterique, in Santa Elena, La Paz. Sr. Vásquez used to sell his coffee to a local middle man, but with the aid of Catracha Coffee (see more here), he has been able to improve his farm and the quality of his beans by applying organic fertilizers and spraying organic fungicides to control leaf rust.
With the higher premium he is receiving, Sr. Vásquez is able to process his coffee at his own micro-mill, and add raised beds to his farm. In the cup this is a delicious light roast, with notes of dark chocolate and caramel.
