Papua New Guinea Korgua Estate Honey Process

Price range: $8.25 through $15.99

This coffee comes from the Nebilyer Valley in Central Papua New Guinea.  It is grown by Brian Leahy, whose family first came to the country in the 1930’s.  There’s is one of the first coffee plantations, built on native-owned land between the Ulga and Kolga tribes, as a buffer zone.  They take the pulp from the coffee processing, and use earthworms to compost it into organic fertilizer.

This coffee is picked by hand so that only the ripe berries are chosen.  It’s a honey process, meaning that some of the mucilage is left intact while the beans dry.  This gives it a distinct fruit flavor in the cup, and you’ll taste sweet fig and apricot flavors when you drink.  It’s a delicious bean, straight from the highlands of Papua New Guinea.  Enjoy!
