Organic Uganda Nebbi Zombo Natural

This Ugandan coffee comes from the far west of the country, north of Lake Albert (one of the African Great Lakes).  This coffee is processed in a new, state-of-the-art mill owned by Kawacom, where the ripe cherries are carefully dried on raised beds.  Kawacom is also helping the small producers in the region to grow organic coffee, by turning coffee pulp into fertilizer.

The small family farms that grow this coffee, according to our broker, are generally ” a few acres of land intercropped with bananas, maize, potatoes and nuts.”  Organizations like Kawacom are increasing the availability of specialty coffee to be exported.

In the cup this is a delicious brew, with strong citrus tones, and a high acidity.  It dances on your tongue as you sip, and finishes with notes of melon.
