Fair Trade Organic Peru Micro-Lot, Augusto Vasquez Llamo

This Fair Trade Organic coffee comes from the far northern part of Peru, from the Sol y Cafe cooperative (Cooperativa de Servicios Multiples Sol y Café Ltda).  The co-op is an association of small producers, whose purpose is to contribute to “the integral development of the partner, his family and community, while prioritizing the execution of agricultural activities, acting with social responsibility, preserving the environment and with a new vision to sustainable development” (from their website, here).

This particular micro-lot comes from Augusto Vasquez Llamo, whose Santa Maria farm is located high in the mountains, above 6500′ elevation.  In the cup it has delicious sweet chocolate tones, with notes of dried cherries and creamy vanilla.
