This coffee comes from Nyeri County, in central Kenya, from small family farms growing coffee on the slopes of the Aberdares Mountains. Nyeri county is bordered by both Mount Kenya and the Aberdares, and it is known for great Kenyan coffee, grown in volcanic soil.
These farms produce coffee intercropped with shade trees, bananas, and macadamias. The farmers are part of the Aguthi Cooperative, and process their coffee at the Thageini Factory. The factory is a wet mill, and the coffee is fully washed and dried on raised beds.
In the cup this coffee has beautiful citrus tones, with notes of dried cherry and plum. It’s roasted light, and we highly recommend it.
