Fair Trade Organic Honduras
You know it’s summer when your kids are sleeping in tents in the yard. We’re eating outside every night, and the kids are now keeping toothbrushes next to the outdoor sink so that they don’t have to go inside before bed. I love how relaxed this season is, for kids and parents alike. After a busy day, sitting around as the light fades helps us all to slow down.
This weekend little Miss Caroline has her ballet recital, and then first thing Sunday morning Jack has an All-Stars baseball game. That should keep us busy, but there are certainly all kinds of local events going on for the rest of you. The Center For the Arts has a full schedule this weekend, and I heard the Nevada County Concert Band practicing for their free concert Sunday night at Pioneer Park.
Did you get a chance to try the Brazilian this week? I really enjoyed the sweet flavor each morning. It certainly lived up to its name as a honey coffee. For the next week we have our Fair Trade Organic Honduran, from Beneficio Santa Rosa. Unlike the Brazilian, this is a fully washed coffee, but it too could be described as sweet.
This coffee is grown in the volcanic highlands of western Honduras, in the department of Ocotepeque, close to the border with El Salvador and Guatemala. It is certified fair trade and organic, and this cooperative of small family farms have invested in sustainable farming practices for the betterment of their product and their land.
Our Fair Trade Organic Honduran tastes of chocolate and hazelnuts, with a medium acidity that helps the finish to linger on your palate. You can try a cup on us this week with the code sweet bean*. I hope that you are enjoying your summer and finding a way to cool off in the heat. Cheers!
