Brazilian Rose Pulped Natural
Did you see Trace’s mohawk this week? I think his Monday orders took twice as long last week since he had to explain his haircut everywhere he went. In the team spirit, every member of the Nevada City Indians, including the other two coaches, got mohawks too. They went on to play the Bear River Mets in the Tournament of Champions Tuesday night and in a well-fought game they lost 4-6.
Last night we got to celebrate a lady who is the most wonderful store manager around here. I would call her that daily: “o most wonderful store manager,” but it’s a bit long. For brevity we all call her Becky. I also have the privilege of calling her sister. This Sunday she is getting married to Dave Skolak and I couldn’t be more delighted for them. We had a bridal shower in the garden, filled with ladies who are all excited for this next step in Becky’s journey. Luckily for us here at Carolines, after a honeymoon break she’ll be back at work.
This weeks coffee is our Brazilian Rose, from the south eastern state of Minas Gerais in Brazil. The processing on this is neither wet nor dry, but a method in between called pulped natural. You also find this labeled as a honey coffee. Pulped natural means that the skin of the coffee cherry is removed, but the coffee is then dried with most of the pulp still attached. It tends to not be as fruity as a natural coffee, but it still has the sweet tones associated with a dry process (natural and dry process are synonymous).
We’ve roasted this Brazilian light so that you get all the sweetness of the terroir. It has good body with an almost buttery mouth feel. The taste is of creamy honey and vanilla. This is a crowd pleasing coffee, and it would pair beautifully with dessert on a summer evening.
I’ll be taking this Brazilian home to start my mornings this week. You can try a cup on us with the code wedding bells*. Congratulations to Dave and Becky this weekend! It’s also Father’s Day Sunday, and summer solstice. Around town the Bluegrass Festival is at the fairgrounds, and the 55th anniversary of the Nevada City Classic will held on Sunday. Whatever you are doing, have a wonderful couple of days and drink good coffee. Cheers!
