Organic Blue Krishna Balinese
Happy 5-15-15 everyone. Did you know that the date today is the same backwards and forwards? The things you can learn from volunteering in your kids’ classrooms. I spent part of this week on an overnight field trip with my daughter to Donner Summit. The kids had the opportunity to rock climb, explore, and hike, and they loved it. I especially enjoyed watching Caroline conquer her initial fear and scamper up the rock with joy.
This week our coffee is our Organic Blue Krishna Balinese. We’ve featured this several times, and it is always well received. The coffee comes from the Kintamani highlands in the northeast of the island. The online images of this region are gorgeous, with lush green coffee flourishing under citrus trees.
This coffee growing in this area is based on Subak Abian, an irrigation technique that was designed over a thousand years ago by Hindu priests. They practice conservation and sustainability on the premise that there should be harmony between humans, the environment, and god. This made for an easy transition to organic practices in modern times.
This Organic Balinese is full bodied with a honey like sweetness. It has low acidity, but a depth of flavor. It finishes with tones of vanilla and sweet dark chocolate, almost nutty. This is a hand picked coffee, and you can taste the care in the cup.
Enjoy this mid-May weekend and drink good coffee. Although the weather was frigid at the summit (snow flurries!), for the most part it has felt like summer around here. It’s a good time to get outdoors and enjoy the sunshine. You can try a cup of this Organic Blue Krishna Balinese on us with the code rock climb* this week. Cheers!
