Jamaican Blue Mountain
Do you have coffee lovers on your holiday gift list? I know that some of you do, because we’ve had a lot of coffee gifts going out the door around here. From gift crates to mugs, baskets to pounds of coffee, and everything in between, we’ve been wrapping it up for someone today. We’ve been enjoying making drinks and toasting bagels nonstop for all of you who have come in. The cold weather and the cheery music has made it feel like Christmas this week. Later tonight we are supposed to get our first snow! We are currently planning on being open until 9 pm for Cornish Christmas, but that will be subject to change due to the weather.
This Sunday, December 8th, we have a tasting with Cello Chocolate on our calendar. If you have not met Debi and Ned, they are a local couple who make these single-origin chocolates from bean to bar. They will be explaining that process on Sunday as we pair their fine chocolates with some of our coffees. There is no charge for the event: simply show up between 2 pm and 4 pm this Sunday for some chocolate and coffee fun!
This week we have something entirely different to offer you. Yesterday we received our long-awaited shipment of Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee. This Jamaican is a remarkable coffee, processed with the utmost of care. It comes from the RSW Estates located on the slopes of the Blue Mountains. This Jamaican is unique in that they have their own processing station, and the coffee is sun-dried and packaged in wooden barrels, instead of the usual burlap sacks.
My favorite quote about this coffee comes in a newsletter from our coffee broker, here. It’s a great article that describes the entire process of this coffee. It is obvious why these beans are so sought after. My favorite part is that when asked the secret to this treasured coffee, the local farmers replied, “if you want great coffee you need ‘happy’ coffee trees tended by happy farmers who are eager to ensure that the trees are properly shaded, pruned, fertilized, weeded and pampered.” This coffee certainly fits that bill.
Trace roasted this Jamaican first thing this morning. We have a family tradition of drinking Jamaican Blue Mountain on Christmas morning. You are welcome to join us, and this week we’re making it easier by offering you a coupon for $5 off per pound of this coffee. Use the code in bold red above (wooden barrels*) for your discount in the store, or buy it online at the discounted price here. Cheers!
