downtown-christmasA Giveaway and El Salvador Las Ninfas Pacamara

This has been a festive week in my home. We had our weekly family meal on Monday night, then on Tuesday we attended the MIM Youth Orchestra Holiday Concert. Wednesday night we had the fun of watching my daughter be Sacajawea in her class play–a reconstruction of the journey of Lewis and Clark. Those fourth graders were amazing in their acting abilities. Then the next two days bring more holiday parties and festivities. It’s a full schedule, but it’s sure fun.

Thank you to all of you who took advantage of our website special and ordered items online (we do offer in store pickup). The 15% off continues through the end of the day today. For this next week we decided to spread cheer with a giveaway. Go to our blog, here, to enter to win one of our Around the World gift boxes, valued at $50.

We also have a micro-lot coffee for you this week. This coffee come from the Ahuachapan region of El Salvador, and it’s grown at over 5000′ elevation. Ricardo Valdivieso grows this, and it is intercropped with fruit trees on his Las Ninfas farm (which means “the nymphs”). Sr. Valdivieso and his daughter also own Santa Leticia farm, which we have featured before, and there they run a hotel and restaurant. You can see their website here.

This coffee is a unique varietal, that was created by scientists at the Salvadoran Institute of Coffee Research (ISIC). It is a blend of Paca, a Salvadorean bourbon variety, and Maragogype, which is known for its gigantic beans. As you would expect, this is a large beaned coffee, with a beautiful flavor. It is a pulped natural, or honey process, and has fruity apricot tones in the cup, with a creamy finish.

This El Salvador Las Ninfas Pacamara comes directly from Ricardo Valdivieso’s family farm. You can try a cup on us this week with the code keep smiling*. In other news, we got another barrel of Jamaican Blue Mountain in stock. It’s our tradition to drink Jamaican on Christmas morning. And not only can you enter our giveaway this week, but the Outside Inn blog has this amazing community giveaway going on. We’re all spreading Christmas cheer. Cheers!
