Yuba Header 2Yemen Mocha

Oh my, it’s been a week to be at the river in Nevada County. The heat of summer has arrived–although we did enjoy a bit of rain too. Everyone with whom I’ve spoken has been in the water this week, whether pool, lake or river. My family has done all three in the last week. We’re definitely in full summer vacation mode.\

Last night our little league team played as the underdog for the minors championship game. The boys played a well fought game, that was tied in the top of the sixth, and went on to win. Congratulations! The best (or worst) part is that Trace had promised his team that he’d get a mohawk if they won. So come on in next week and check it out.

This week’s coffee is our Yemen Mocha. This will be the special while it lasts–we’re at the end of the sack. With the current unrest, I doubt Yemen will be available, so this will be it for a while.

This Yemen has an amazing flavor. When you open the green coffee sack, you smell fruit flavors, before it is ever roasted. Coffee in Yemen is generally grown in a traditional manner. It is not certified organic, but Yemen farmers don’t have much access to soil additives of any sort.

Yemen Mocha Sanani is a natural processed coffee, so that it is dried with the cherry still intact. This gives it the strong fruit flavors that you taste when it is roasted. Those of you who love a dried coffee will love this. In the cup you find notes of dried figs and toasted almonds.

You can try this Yemen on us this week with the code water week*. If it’s hot where you live, I wish you abounding water. In this California drought we are especially grateful for all the water we find. Have a great weekend, no matter what you do. Cheers!
